Hercules (known in Greek as Heracles) was a hero of ancient mythology, famous for his extraordinary strength, courage, and endurance. He is best known for performing the Twelve Labors of Hercules, a series of nearly impossible tasks imposed on him as punishment. These labors tested not only his strength, but also his intelligence and perseverance.
